“Latin American countries have been conducting studies on the cultural industry and economy during the last decade. Several of such investigations have shown the economic impact of culture on the value added, employment and foreign trade. Therefore, the Undergraduate Degree in Cultural Management and Studies provides professionals with the academic training to meet the new economic trends giving rise from the value chain of the Cultural Industry and the Cultural Tourism Policy.”

Our graduates will be able to act as project managers of artistic, cultural and social projects; be at the vanguard of any artistic and cultural expression; and manage their own cultural company.

General Description

The Cultural Management and Studies program offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Universidad EAN is characterized by the aspects as follows: The Pedagogical Model supporting it, the curricular approach used, the specific use of new information technologies applied to management and communication, the self-learning process, and the academic training based on competencies. This academic program aims to be recognized as a pioneer in the academic training of cultural managers, recognized for their entrepreneurial and business spirit, by means of the construction of cultural knowledge as a process and as a product; and taking into account research, innovation and management with the purpose of contributing to the comprehensive academic training of people, and stimulating entrepreneurship for their actions to contribute to the economic and social development of peoples.

Options For The Final Major Project

Guided Work, Business Plan, Research Paper, and Report on the Systematization of an International Experience. The four options are under the supervision of a Final Major Project Tutor responsible for guiding the student in terms of methodology and research subject.

  • Create their own business which will be centered on cultural promotion, events management, the performing arts, cultural marketing, among others.
  • Assess new businesses which have a social or cultural focus.
  • Manage businesses which specialize in offering cultural and artistic services.
  • Direct cultural establishments
  • Represent public entities and organizations in order to promote cultural projects.
  • Provide economic and technical support in collaboration with local and international organizations.
  • Work as a consultant for local and international organizations to evaluate social and cultural projects.
  • Become part of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams which are dedicated to cultural research.
  • Present proposals to the local, regional and national government bodies regarding the creation or modification of laws, policies, strategies or any such instrument related to the promotion or execution of cultural projects
  • Access a wide range of information through the use of new technology and communication tools, evaluating and utilizing them in the decision-making process.
  • Audit cultural programs and projects, providing support and financing from various sources be they national, international or mixed.
  • Implement information systems, previously authorized by businesses and the public sector in order to formulate cultural policies, plans and projects.
  • Professionally qualified faculty with experience in Cultural Management
  • Be a part of a program which responds to the recommendations made by different associations dedicated to cultural management in Ibero-America, in order to encourage development in this specific area.
  • Develop skills which will allow successful performance in the field of culture.
  • Internships and research are important components of the program.
  • Business education with permanent consultation on creating your own business.
  • Complete the Cultural Studies and Management program in eight semesters with the option of a double degree.
  • With four thematic blocks in eight six-month periods, with the possibility to choose one of the three proposed emphasis, and by developing entrepreneurial and research skills through our internship process.
  • With a methodology based on developing skills and solving problems and cases derived from business experiences.
